A cool product creates excitement when released, but fails to sustain its success in the marketplace. Remember the Pebble Smartwatch? Neither does anyone else. In 2012, Pebble shipped over 1 million orders. Three years later, they filed for insolvency. Remember the Apple Watch? Of course you do. But not because it was the cool product of 2015, shipping over 4 million orders. You remember the Apple Watch because as of 2019, it’s still the bestselling smartwatch on the market. That’s a good product. A great product goes even further, creating a disruption in the market and changing how we live. Only time will tell if the Apple Watch can make that leap.
This course will use case studies to examine how products are disrupting the market. We’ll explore the strategic and dynamic role a product manager plays in evolving a product from cool to good to great.
You Will Learn
- Best practices for coordinating logistics and forming teams
- How to define your competitive advantage
