Earning the Certificate
You have the flexibility of taking individual courses within the program or earning the Stanford Advanced Computer Security Certificate by completing the 4 required courses and 2 electives. (The free introductory course, Introduction to Web Security, does not count towards the certificate.)
Courses are available online, anytime.
Time to Complete Certificate
The program consists of 6 courses and takes approximately 50-55 hours to complete. These online courses are self-paced and available on-demand for 60 days after the date of enrollment. This enables you to complete the program at your own pace.
Our pacing recommendation for courses of this length is to complete each course within 30 days. To be on track, we recommend that you plan to spend approximately two hours per week on the course.
It is recommended that you have the equivalent of a BS in Computer Science, or a background in cyber security.
Learners less familiar with the content are recommended to start with Foundations of Information Security (XACS101). It provides the fundamentals necessary for the subsequent courses in the program.
