Our Current Projects Include:
We work collaboratively with University IT to enhance the user experience in credit-bearing courses and improve student course evaluation, with a focus on courses offered through the School of Engineering.
Video Blurring for Anonymization
The video blur project enables auto-scrubbing of faces from course lectures for compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Using Machine Learning algorithms, the technology enables us to anonymize students in a recorded classroom lecture. As opposed to the slow, time-consuming effort of manual video scrubbing, our automated system allows us to quickly turn-around the reuse of recorded lectures. The integration of video blur technology with Panopto will help enable students to review previously-offered classes with fewer restrictions.
We are continuously evolving our technology to improve the learner experience. Our infrastructure is based on the latest industry standards built on both cloud-based and on-prem solutions. With the implementation of serverless technology, we are moving toward socially responsible and economically sustainable technology with integrated systems.
In support of Stanford’s Academic Continuity initiative, we are working on integrating Zoom and other online collaborative tools with Canvas to enhance our distance education experience.

Digital MEdIC App
SCPD and the Stanford Center for Health Education (SCHE) collaborated on the development of the cloud-based Digital Medic app for iOS and Android. The app helps facilitate the dissemination of evidence-based health education that provides people with the knowledge they need to improve their own health outcomes. The ClassX platform, a digital library of engineering content, features fully-searchable short video segments of Stanford Engineering lectures. Students can create and watch customized video playlists to improve their understanding of core competencies and prerequisites. Visit the site
Stanford Engineering Everywhere
SCPD created and maintains Stanford Engineering Everywhere, which offers free publicly available courses, highlighting SCPD’s commitment to equity in education. Visit the site
Our work to integrate applications such as Panopto, Poll Everywhere, and Gradescope with Canvas have improved the online and face-to-face classroom experiences of Stanford students.
Our team has piloted several projects to help improve learning using Data Lake, Tableau visualizations, and other analytic tools.
We are dedicated to improving the user experience in our Professional Education courses and have created for your use a fully customized and branded LMS based on Moodle. Our personalized user interface incorporates features such as progress tracking, interactive video transcripts, and H5P (an HTML5-based tool for interactive online learning). We have also developed a unique set of tailored tools, optimized for mobile learning, to help enhance the learner experience. Visit the site
