How are lectures set-up?
Because the majority of our users are working professionals, most do not have the time to sit through an entire lecture. Therefore, Stanford Online videos are indexed by keywords or topics; allowing users to jump to specific points within a given lecture. To navigate through the videos, right-click on the video screen and choose file markers. A pull down menu of the index points will appear. Selecting any of these links will jump the video to that portion of the lecture- allowing for a non-linear viewing experience.
In addition to indexing, a PowerPoint slide presentation is synchronized with the video. The slide presentation provides the students with a larger version of the visuals seen in the video. As the professor flips his slides or writes on the chalkboard or notepad, these enlarged images appear to the right of the video in the flipper frame. Although synchronized, the slides are also independent, enabling the user to navigate through the slides for reviewing without affecting the video.
