The Department of Management Science and Engineering offers two certificate programs to Non Degree Option (NDO) students:

Risk Analysis
Management Science and Engineering

Each program requires the completion of four courses. The certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of the four courses with a grade point average of B (3.0) or better.

Risk Analysis

Risk - in human and financial terms - is a topic of increasing importance throughout industry: aerospace, automotive, construction, computer technologies, health care, security, energy, manufacturing and more. The Risk Analysis certificate program is designed to provide a foundation in the techniques of analysis of engineering systems for risk management decisions involving trade-offs - technical, human, environmental. MS&E 250A Engineering Risk Analysis forms the core and is required for completion of the certificate.

Three courses provide preparation in the analysis techniques needed for the core course: Engineering Risk Analysis. Students who do not have the prerequisite background in these analysis techniques must elect to take the preparatory elective courses teaching needed techniques. Students who have prerequisite background in the techniques covered by the preparatory electives may select to substitute advanced electives for up to two of three required elective courses.

Core Course

MS&E 250A Engineering Risk Analysis

Preparation in Analytic Techniques

MS&E 207 Interactive Management Science
MS&E 220 Probability Analysis
MS&E 252 Decision Analysis I

Advanced Electives

MS&E 250B Project Course in Engineering Risk Analysis
MS&E 352 Decision Analysis II
