This method of learning is best for individuals wishing to become acquainted with or refresh their knowledge in a subject area. Auditors are course observers and do not need to submit transcripts for department approval to observe the course.

However, as course observers, Auditors do not interact with professors or teaching assistants and do not have access to campus libraries or computer accounts. Auditors do not submit coursework or receive grades or credit for the course.

Audit students register for courses through SCPD:

	1.	Submit an SCPD enrollment application by the Audit deadline for the upcoming quarter. Check the SCPD schedule for the Audit enrollment deadline.
	2.	Indicate method of payment. If you are paying for the course and obtaining reimbursement from your company, include a check or provide a credit card number. If your company is paying directly, the company will be invoiced.

Most handouts and courses materials are available on the course Web site as long as a valid Stanford ID and password are not required to access the materials.

Auditors do not receive a Stanford computer account, which is needed in some cases to access course handouts/syllabus. Please contact SCPD distribution Office at 650-725-3015 if you would like a copy of those materials sent to you.
