Since 1969, the Stanford Center for Professional Development (SCPD) has extended Stanford University graduate programs and specialized courses to busy professionals, becoming one of the world's largest distance learning providers for engineers, scientists, and managers. SCPD's goal is to extend the Stanford community further, creating a true community of learners, independent of distance or time.

In its long-standing dynamic relationships with Silicon Valley leaders, Stanford University, especially the School of Engineering, has been the center for many of the technological innovations that have moved SCPD toward that goal.

Televised delivery, streaming video, and our ability to deliver cross-platform online courses allow us to bring the intellectual experience of the Stanford classroom to distance students as never before. Most of our on-campus short courses and seminars are now offered online, expanding opportunities for specialized professional development.
