Paul Marca is the SCPD Deputy Director. Marca has been at SCPD for twelve years, working his way up from video production assistant, to director, then producer and manager. "I worked on our early efforts at offering television short courses, as part of a team called Media Works. We had reached a point where we weren't necessarily matching our programs with industry-needs." To develop a more effective relationship with industry, Marca became ProEd's first director and chose to take on the additional role of Director of New Business. Marca assesses industry-needs for effective program development, while fostering new opportunities for SCPD partnership. "I have the strategic development role in ProEd; new business development goes along with that. I network in the business world, bringing existing and potential partners onto campus. It's very much the entrepreneurial role for ProEd." Marca's ties to Stanford run deep. "I'm a graduate of Stanford, and I've been challenged here in every aspect of my life: sports, intellectually, at every level. We have the opportunity to extend the Stanford experience -- the experience I've had myself -- to others in industry through our ProEd Programs." He finds his work personally stimulating and rewarding. "We work with the best faculty and best programs for engineering professionals in the world.
