Holly Jenichen was an RN in an Intensive Care Unit for three years before joining SCPD's registration team in October, 2000. "I came to a Stanford job fair, spent over an hour talking about this position and knew it was something I wanted. I came with a student's perspective, having only been out of school for a few years. My nursing background and experience as a student have helped me in the work." As the first line contact for the Stanford Advanced Project Management (SAPM) program, Jenichen handles inquiries, applications and registration for both on-campus and online participants. "I like the opportunity for follow-through to support the whole process. The on-campus program is held twice a year and serves upwards of 300 people. Online participation in SAPM has grown by almost 50%." Jenichen also organizes the orientation for Stanford's teaching assistants in academic courses offered to distance students she handles all the logistics, develops and delivers a presentation on academic registration, and serves as a general resource to answer questions. "My job at SCPD has grown tremendously it's ever-changing and much more challenging," she says. "I answer questions via email and on the phone, but especially via email. That hasn't changed. What's different with SAPM, though, is that I can be communicating with people around the world for weeks, and often get to meet them in person when they come to campus for our program. That's just wonderful. It's really my favorite part." |
