Elena Chardon-Pietri began working with SCPD in July 2005, as Academic Program Manager. She sees SCPD as the link between Stanford and industry in its broadest context. "We provide lifelong learning to individuals that will allow companies to maintain and gain a competitive edge. What we do impacts individuals, the company and the economy."

Chardon-Pietri holds a PhD in higher education with a focus on organizational behavior and marketing, as well as a master's degree in chemistry and education. After running her own marketing research company for fifteen years, Chardon-Pietri was drawn back to the academic world. SCPD is a unique fit. "I come from a research background that is very diverse and multi-disciplinary," she explains. My research involved how universities deal with a changing external environment. I am very much aware of the role that a university center like SCPD plays."

"The team here is top notch, and the quality of dialogue that goes on at work is at a high level," Chardon-Pietri says, then adds, "I enjoy challenge, change, and the fact that my job is a work in progress. I will be able to apply my academic and professional background. I am involved in assessments and in curriculum and community development." She is also the SCPD company membership manager. "I am the primary contact for company education coordinators regarding SCPD membership issues. Also, if someone wants to register for a credit course and the company is not a member of SCPD, I work to educate the company about the benefits of membership"
