Carissa Little joined SCPD in July of 2004. "This job is an excellent merging of my interests and experience: my love of education, project management experience, and my experience with packaging projects for the web," she says. "I was in geology at Stanford, and had worked in the software industry before that, so there is a lot about this position that is a good fit."

Little works with the Stanford Online team, Stanford faculty, and Stanford's partner, IPSolutions, to package courses for online delivery—developing presentation wording, creating marketing strategies, and tying up the loose ends. She is also the program manager for the Investment Risk short course. Regardless of the program, however, Little points out that the entire ProEd group functions as a team. "We tag team each other, pitching in and working on whatever needs to be done. I think it's a great team."

When asked what it was like to begin her job when several short courses were being held on campus—essentially starting in the middle of the busiest time, Little laughs, saying, "I like the pace. I also like the fact that I can manage a program from start to finish—from development and marketing through the event and packaging it for online delivery. It's the best of both worlds—a fast-paced business environment with all the benefits of a university."
