Curriculum
This distance learning program combines business management and aviation training with the goal of developing new aviation leaders to guide the next century of excellence in air transport.
The aviation component , delivered by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), will provide in-depth coverage of the air transportation system, its function, role and scope. Participants will learn the key facets of aviation management in 3 courses related to airport operations and the essentials of revenue management and pricing. Whether you work in airline customer service, sales and marketing, network planning or airport services, the program is designed to improve your decision-making and team collaboration skills.
The management component of the program, delivered by the Stanford Center for Professional Development (SCPD), includes courses on strategic execution, leadership and project management. Participants will acquire the leadership skills and competencies needed to tackle emerging issues and successfully guide their organizations in today's fast-paced business environment. You will also be introduced to innovative tools for engaging others in meaningful collaboration and emerge with an expert grasp of how to focus an organization to deliver on business priorities.
Earning the Certificate
You must complete the 6 required courses to receive the Stanford - IATA Aviation Management Certificate . Graduates will be registered with IATA as a Certified Aviation Management Professional (AvMP) . You can use this AvMP designation after your name on business materials as a symbol of excellence and professionalism in the industry. Records are archived with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and are available for verification upon request.
It is strongly recommended you take courses in the following order:

- Mastering the Project Portfolio
- Airline Revenue Management
- Leadership for Strategic Execution
Professional Development Units
Professional Development Units (PDUs) may be earned for each Stanford course (XAPM110a, XAPM111a, XAPM112a) to maintain certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP).
Recertification
AVMP holders are required to renew their certification every 3 years. To maintain the AVMP designation, professionals are required to enroll in one (1) course from Stanford and one course (1) from IATA, as follows:

Time to Complete Certificate
