Sponsoring Academic Department: Management Science and Engineering

Description
Develop rules of thought that will transform complex decisions into situations where the course of action is clear. Build up a set of powerful distinctions that will improve personal decision-making ability and help other make critical decisions.

Course of Study
To qualify for the certificate, you must take both core courses and two of four elective courses, with an average level of achievement of B+ or better in each course.

Core Courses:
MS&E 252: Decision Analysis I
MS&E 352: Decision Analysis II

Electives:
MS&E 220: Probability Analysis, or STAT116: Theory of Probability
MS&E 250A: Engineering Risk Analysis
MS&E 250B: Project Course in Engineering Risk Analysis (on campus only)
MS&E 353: Decision Analysis III

Getting Started
There are no admissions to certificate programs. Instead, you apply to enroll in appropriate courses in the quarter that the courses are offered at Stanford through SCPD. See the Academic Schedule to develop your plan of study. Apply during the enrollment period for the quarter by going to http://enroll.stanford.edu.

Request for Certificate
After completing all course requirements, submit a Certificate Request form to SCPD. Upon receipt of the completed form, SCPD will forward the request to the academic department for approval and processing of the certificate.
